CMOL CrossNets as Pattern Classifiers

This presentation has two goals: (i) to review the recently suggested concept of bio-inspired CrossNet architectures for future hybrid CMOL VLSI circuits and (ii) to present new results concerning the prospects and problems of using these neuromorphic networks as classifiers of very large patterns, in particular of high-resolution optical images. We show that the unparalleled density and speed ...

CMOL CrossNets: Possible Neuromorphic Nanoelectronic Circuits

Hybrid “CMOL” integrated circuits, combining CMOS subsystem with nanowire crossbars and simple two-terminal nanodevices, promise to extend the exponential Moore-Law development of microelectronics into the sub-10-nm range. We are developing neuromorphic network (“CrossNet”) architectures for this future technology, in which neural cell bodies are implemented in CMOS, nanowires are used as axons...

Architectures for Nanoelectronic Neural Networks: New Results

Our group is developing artificial neural networks that may be implemented using hybrid semiconductor/molecular (“CMOL”) circuits. In this report, we demonstrate that CrossNets based on simple (two-terminal) molecular devices can work we...

Architectures for nanoelectronic implementation of artificial neural networks: new results

Hybrid semiconductor/molecular (“CMOL”) circuits may be used for hardware implementation of artificial neural network. Our studies show that such networks (“CrossNets”) may eventually exceed the mammal brain in areal density, at much higher speed and acceptable power consumption. In this report, we demonstrate that CrossNets based on simple (two-terminal) molecular devices can work well in at l...
